During the formation of National Super Alliance last year, Raila promised to serve as transitional president until 2022, a statement which has since been overtaken by events.

"I will serve as a transitional president until 2022. I will put mechanisms in place to ensure the country is right on track," he said.

But with Uhuru Kenyatta having been validly declared President, Raila has been subjected to yet another battle despite ongoing succession battles to inherit his support base.

Although he has remained mum after taking presidential oath, a close confidant, Silas Jakakimba, hinted a possible Raila candidature.

"If what I have been reading about Kalonzo Musyoka is true, then I don't think he can beat a possible Raila Odinga candidature," he wrote.

But despite his several trials, a section of his close confidants have won presidency with Tanzania's John Magufuli leading the pact.

This week, South Africa business mogul Cyril Ramaphosa joined  Raila's list of friends to win presidency.

In the list, Ex-Nigerian President Olusigun Obasanjo and the current president Mohamed Buhari are close friends of Raila.

At the Gambia, Adama Barrow is also a confidant of Raila and the latter was quick to congratulate him following historic victory.
