President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet nominees are not average people with Cabinet Secretary nominee for Water Simon Chelugui in the lead with Sh796 million in move-able assets, farming and real estate.

Coming in second, according to a report tabled in Parliament during the vetting process is the former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Keriako Tobiko with an estimated assets value of Sh Sh360 million which he has generated through investments in livestock, agriculture and real estate.

But when he was vetted for the DPP position back in 2011, Tobiko told the committee that he was worth Sh80 million.

In third place, the report tabled by the Committee on Appointments is former Meru Governor, Peter Munya who is worth at least Sh264 million.

Former Royal Media Services Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Ministry of Lands secretary nominee, Faridah Karoney is in fourth place and is worth Sh200 million all from shares, farming and real estate.

John Munyes, Monica Juma and Margaret Kobia tight in fifth position with at least Sh50 million in their names.

Sports and Heritage nominee, Rashid Achesa who despite dropping out of school in class 7, is worth Sh40 million. He told the committee that his wealth is in form of moveable assets, construction and real estate.

As it stands, the eight cabinet nominees have a combined net worth of at least Sh2.2 billion.

The report will be discussed in a plenary after which those whose nominations will be approved will be forwarded to the President for final appointment.
