Pangani Girls of Nairobi put a spirited performance in 2017 KCSE results that were released by education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

Only 142 candidates managed to score straight A grade, an improvement of just one in 2016 edition.

While releasing the results at Nairobi School, Matiang'i confirmed that results from ten schools were withheld for further scrutiny.

Among top performers were Karimi Naom (Pangani Girls), Sharon Chepchumba (Moi Girls Eldoret), Brian Maina (Alliance High School), Odera Denata (Lenana School) and Harriet Mueke of Mary Hill Gils.

Others include Brian Okundi ( Kanga High), Moraa Mong'ina (Pangani Girls), Mwathathe Emily (Pangani), Wahome Kanyiri (Moi Eldoret) and Omondi of Maranda High.

Notably, traditional academic giants Mang'u High, Starehe Boys Center, Loreto Limuru and Nairobi School did not feature.
