The campuses have been found to be offering sub-standard education.

They are managed by Kabarak, Laikipia and Kisii universities.

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i had formed a committee to probe claims that the campuses were offering low quality education.

The committee comprised Prof George Magoha, Prof Crispus Kiamba and Prof Patricia Kameri.

Here are the campuses that the committee recommends to be closed:

Laikipia University - Nairobi, Naivasha, Eldoret, Embu and Maralal and Laikipia campuses be closed from January 2016.

Kisii University — Isebania, Kehancha, Eldama Ravine, Keroka, Nyamira and Ogembo campus.

Kabarak's Nairobi campus, the committee found, was not operating as a single spatial unit. The university has been told to consolidate its operations in one location.

The campuses were found to be operating with acute teaching staff shortages and offering unapproved programmes.
