With Kenyans almost ready to make critical decisions on Tuesday, the country could miss contributions of a good number of MPs who hit news in 10th parliament.
A section of them have either joined governorship or lost in nominations during party primaries, making it almost impossible to bounce back given the nature of political dynamics of the region they come from.
Notable in this list include Senator Hassan Omar, who will be running in Mombasa governorship and Stephen Sang, who shifted his attention in governorship seat.
Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama dropped his senatorial bid and will not be competing in any elective position.
In Budalang’i, Ababu Namwamba, who decamped ODM for LPK is facing fierce rivalry from former MP Raphael Wanjala. The region is a perceived ODM stronghold and that could work against Namwamba’s wishes.
Also in that category is Jakoyo Midiwo, Agostino Neto and Sylvanus Osele, both who are running as Independents in a region perceived to be an ODM stronghold.
Senator Kembi Gitura of Murang’a may also face a tough battle in his quest to bounce back after losing to Irungu Kang’ata in Jubilee nominations.
