Cremation is a taboo in many societies in Kenya and in the World.
In Kenya, most of the dead people are buried, but recently the trend is changing where many people are wishing to be cremated in the event death strikes upon them.
These are the list of Kenyans who wished to be cremated instead of granting them a befitting traditional burial.
1. Kenneth Matiba
The veteran politician died on April 15, 2015.
He wished and pleaded with his family to be cremated when he dies.
As a fulfilment of his wishes, he will be cremated on Friday at Langata cemetery.
2. Wangari Maathai
The Environmentalist body was cremated in 2011 at Konokor crematorium.
She wished to be cremated when she was alive, a wish that was executed by her family and the government, before her remains were interred at Wangari Maathai Institute for peace and environment stands.
3. Joshua Okuthe
He was a sport administrator.
His first wife, Ruth Okuthe, spearheaded his cremation on July 9, 2009, at Korikor cemetery.
An empty coffin was buried as a mock funeral by his family behind his bathroom, Muhoroni district.
