In his acceptance speech, Odotte said they have plans to completely overhaul the current infrastructure, which includes the auditorium, lights and seats.

Odotte beat his competitor Wilfred Oyugi by 52 to 23 votes in the hotly contested elections.

The Secretary's position went to James Owaro who garnered 45 votes against Steve Kwena who managed to get 30 votes.

J. N Muga won the Treasurer's post with 41 votes beating Hope Baraza who got 34 votes.

The newly elected committee members include Fammy Mohammed, Corolyn Ngorobi, Jack Maina, Stephanie Museki, Ashik Yusuf, Hillary Namanje and Lucy Syokau.

Speaking after the elections, the chairman elect said they have a blueprint that has already been forwarded to both the national and county governments for consideration.

"Every indication is that the studio equipment will be purchased soon as the county government is involved in fast-tracking the process," he said.

He revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta might visit the theatre soon.

"We strategised on how to seek audience with the president during his long stay at the Coast in January and talk to him about LTC. This culminated in a possible visit by the Head of State," he said.
