Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo will temporarily take over following ailment of his boss John Nyagarama.
Before jetting out on Friday, Nyagarama wrote a letter to his deputy informing him to take over until he returns.
"This is to inform you that I will be travelling out of the country on 10th May 2018 for medical checkup.
"You are hereby asked to discharge duties of the governor in compliance to the constitution. However, you will not be allowed to dismiss, appoint of nominate officers," said the letter.
Already, a number of leaders from across the country have wished him quick recovery with some warning the DG against overstepping his mandate.
11.00am: Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo says he is in charge and dismisses claims that he has overstepped the governor's duties. He further claims that the letter dismissing County Secretary Erick Onchana was signed by the governor.
11:30am: ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire wishes the governor quick recovery but warns against bitter succession battles. He asks those in charge to continue with service delivery.
11:35am: Wiper Vice Chairman Victor Swanya joins other county leaders in wishing the governor quick recovery. He says his condition (failing limbs) is treatable.
1:00pm: North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko also wishes the governor quick recovery. He however urges Deputy Amos Nyaribo to resign for 'mistreating' County Secretary. Mr. Onchana was sacked under unclear circumsances last week.
1:20pm: The county government communication team remains tight lipped on the governor's condition but impeccable sources reveal that he is in a hospital at the US state of Michigan.
1:45pm: Borabu MP Ben Momanyi asks Nyamira residents to pray for the ailing governor. He also asks politicians to desist from engaging in premature 2022 succession politics. He is being touted to be planning to replace Nyagarama.
2:00pm: Impeccable sources within Nyagarama's government reveals that his son, Ndemo Nyagarama, also remained in a critical condition at Nairobi Hospital, four months after he was admitted.
2:30pm: Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo says he will limit his duties to the set rules and Acts within the constitution. He dismisses claims that he will misuse his powers.
3:00pm: West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi and his Kitutu Masaba counterpart Shadrack Mose joins the family of the governor and other leaders in wishing him quick recovery.
3:20pm: Walter Nyambati, who finished second in August 2017 gubernatorial seat, also wishes Nyagarama quick recovery. He however accuses county government of corruption and resource plundering.
4:00pm: A family source, who spoke in confidence says the doctors are monitoring the situation of Nyagarama and would propose the right procedure for him by Monday. He is suffering from failing limbs.
4:05pm: In his trip, Nyagarama is said to have been accompanied by family members, a team led by his wife Naomi Nyagarama.
4:20pm: County speaker Moffat Teya urges county officials to focus on development adding that the governor's absence should not hamper delivery.
