1.30 pm - Elected leaders arrive at the meeting. They include Governor Jackson Mandago, Senator Margret Kamar, Deputy governor Daniel Chemno and MPs Janet Sitienei (Turbo) William Chepkut (Ainabkoi), Oscar Sudi (Kapseet).

1.00 pm - Farmers already seated ready for the meeting even as they discuss key issues they will address. The session is being led by the Uasin Gishu Kenya Farmers Association (KFA) Director Kipkorir Menjo.

12.40 pm - What we know so far about the scandal. Agriculture Principle Secretary last week announced that he had suspended over 58 NCPB officials to pave way for investigations into the scam.

A day later, the Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri released a list of 21 people h said were cartels that benefited from the scandal after supplying hundreds of bags of maize to various NCPB silos across the country and were promptly paid.

Some of those named however came out defending themselves against the accusations saying they were real farmers and only bought some of the maize bags from fellow farmers who had lined up for long at NCPB and were in need of funds to settle medical bills, school fees among other needs.

Farmers in Uasin Gishu County have converged to discuss on the maize scandal that has rocked the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).

This is after cartels and traders allegedly pocketed over Sh1.9 billion that was meant to be paid to farmers who supplied maize at the cereals board.

Several leaders, among them Governor Jackson Mandago and MPs Silas Tiren (Moiben) and Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) are expected to attend the meeting being held at the Teachers Advisory Centre (TAC) in Eldoret town.

In the meeting, it is expected that resolutions would be made over how the scandal will be addressed.
