Election violence leaves 3 dead.
At least three people have died in election related violence in Nyanza.
Two anti-election demonstrators were shot dead by police in Kisumu while another person was killed by a mob in unclear circumstances.

3:54 pm: As we head into the 5pm time for closure of the voting exercise, no voter is yet to turn out at any polling station. However, no violence has been witnessed in the area.
Mumias East
3:47 pm: Victims of poll violence in Mumia taken to St Mary's hospital, nurse says the patient who is a NYS officers who was affected by the violence is now in a stable condition.
"We receive her at 1:30 pm with injuries on her knees, we have done x-trays and then take her to theatre," said the nurse.
Youths have also closed the roads leading to Kisumu but police have managed to contain the situation.
Karua votes
3:10pm: Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua casts her vote at Mugumo Primary School. Karua vied for Kirinyaga governor seat on August 8 and lost to Anne Waiguru.

'No excessive force'

Ghost towns

In Bondo, Raila Odinga's home area, youths have blocked roads to prevent transportation of election materials.

Polling centers open
Most polling stations were open by 6am across the country.
Low voter turnout has been witnessed in Kakamega, Nakuru, Eldoret, Ukambani region, Mombasa, and Isiolo – just to mention a few.
Several voters have turned up in Jubilee Party strongholds to exercise their democratic right to vote.
Hundreds of voters have lined up in polling stations in Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Gatundu to cast their ballots.
In National Super Alliance (Nasa) strongholds such as Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay and Kisumu, election materials have not been distributed to polling stations.
Youths have barricaded roads in Kisumu and Migori, paralysing transportation of voting materials to polling centres.
Nearly all IEBC officials in the regions have not turned up to oversee the exercise. They say they fear for their lives after Nasa leader Raila Odinga urged his supporters to stay away from the polling stations.
Odinga, who withdrew from the presidential race, has described today’s poll as a sham.
