2:53pm: Simba Arati calls off NASA demonstrations in Nairobi, asks supporters to leave for home. He asked them to avail themselves for another demo, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.NASA at Uhuru Park2:49pm: Siaya senator James Orengo, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, alongside other NASA MPs are addressing supporters at Uhuru Park grounds. Their mesage, is that there will be no election, without reforms.NASA demos in Mombasa2:27pm: NASA demos started this morning in the Coastal city, with supporters being led by several MCAs.Supporters however accused the leaders of failing to support them, all through, only for them to join them at the IEBC offices, during the last minute. The MCAs however defended themselves, saying they had some urgent matters to attend to, in the morning, before joining the supporters.The demos were however peaceful, as operations continued.Kisumu afternoon demos2:18pm: Protesters have now warned journalists against taking their pictures, recordings or making phone calls. They have said they do not want to be covered by the media. It is not clear why.
Journalists are now hiding to get clips, photos an information about the demos in the lakeside city.
NASA leaders in the county led the demos in the morning, but have not been seen, in the afternoon.
NASA women MPs2:12pm: NASA women leaders, led by Homa Bay Woman Rep and her Nairobi counterpart Esther Passaris, have defended NASA leader, Raila Odinga, over allegations that he disrespected women. They warned the Jubilee women MPs, after they criticised Odinga. The NASA women warned their Jubilee counterparts against attacking Odinga, saying he is their political father. They addressed the press at Uhuru Park.Press briefing1:41pm: NASA leaders, led by Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and several other MPs from Kajiado County are addressing the press in Nairobi. The Kajiado leaders are led by Memusi, Judy Pareno.
Raila insisted that they will not participate in an election, which Jubilee Party has already put efforts to rig.

Uhuru Kenyatta
12:22pm: President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently meeting political leaders from the Coast region at Serani Grounds, Mombasa. He met several others, yesterday, at the same venue, where he received former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, who defected from Wiper Democratic Movement.
Demonstrator shot!
11:59am: One of the NASA demonstrators in Nairobi CBD, at GPO, has been shot, allegedly by a police officer in a GK car. The car then sped off immediately, knocking down at least three people.
Heavy crowd is currently at the scene, with Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, saying police have started killing NASA supporters innocently.
The demonstrators have vowed to continue demonstrating towards the office of the IG of Police, Joseph Boinnet. Read story.
Police in Kisumu
11:41am: There is little police presence in Kisumu, as protests continue. Several supermarkets have closed shop, today, in fear of looting, like what happened to Tumaini Supermarket, last week Friday.

11:27am: The trial of the televangelist has kicked off in Nairobi's Milimani Law Courts.
The 'miracle babies' televangelist was charged with five counts of stealing children below 14 years between 2002 and 2004 at Mountain View Estate, Nairobi.

He was remanded at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, after Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi denied him bail. According to the judge, prosecution gave sufficient reasons to warrant his detention.
Kisumu County
11:21am: NASA Demonstrations kicked off as early as 9am, with protesters camping on the streets, with placards, saying "Chiloba must go!". Sounds of the supporters could be heard, as they made entry to IEBC regional offices in Kisumu town.
Nairobi County
11:17am: Nasa protesters have gathered at Uhuru Park's Freedom Corner, ready for the protests. Led by Woman Rep Esther Passaris, the protests are chanting "Aliiba kura", "Chiloba ni mwizi" chants.
Heavy security presence has been deployed at the Anniversary Towers, which houses the IEBC offices. Police are fully armed, ready for any insecurity and entry to IEBC offices attempts.
Supreme Court
11:07am: Supreme Judges are currently hearing a case in which the chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) filed, days after the Chief Justice David Maraga-led court, nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election in the August 8th polls.Chebukati seeks interpretation on his roles in the verification of Forms 34As and 34Bs in the upcoming election, among other clarifications.
IEBC is represented by lawyer Paul Muite.
KNCHR Report
10:59am: The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights is currently releasing a report on elections, specifically the August 8 election, led by chairperson Kagwiria Mbogori.
The election report titled "Mirage at Dusk", KNCHR said, "is a reflection of our monitoring work in 33 hotspot Counties through the Commission's 139 monitors."

According the report, politicians used children in their campaigns ahead of August election.
High Court
10:38am: The High Court in Nairobi has dismissed a petition, in which three voters sought to bar IEBC's Wafula Chebukati, Ezra Chiloba and the six commissioners, from presiding over the fresh polls.
Justice Mutivo said the case lacks merit since the Supreme Court did not find them culpable, during the September 1st ruling of the August 8 presidential election. Read story.
Business Community
10:27am: In Nairobi County, which is home to the major protests, MP Moses Kuria-led Nairobi Business Community has vowed to ensure the NASA protests are not a success. This is after they received a go-ahead from county Police commander Japheth Koome, to as well have their own demonstrations, with aim to 'protect' businesses against the NASA demos.
A clash is expected between them, and the NASA protesters in the capital city.
Police ban
10:24am: Reports indicate police in Mombasa have banned the protests. Area Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi has been leading the protests, alongside several MPs.
Background
9am: Today (Monday October 9), marks another day for Opposition's (NASA) demos in quest to kick out some staff at the national electoral body, IEBC.
The demos have been ongoing nationwide, two days a week, despite condemnation from various sectors. NASA has however maintained that the demos would continue. The coalition even went ahead and said, they would be held three-days a week, given the gravity of the issues at hand, and its irreducible minimums, before participating in fresh presidential election slated for the 26th of this month
NASA also wants immediate withdrawal of the controversial Electoral Laws Amendments currently in Parliament, being sponsored by Jubilee Party.
Durling last week's Friday demos, protesters in Kisumu destroyed property in Kisumu town, and looted a supermarket. Seven suspects are in police custody over this.
So far, one person has died as a result of the demos, in Siaya County.
