Livestock farmers in Bahati have been advised to seek information and skills of manufacturing their own livestock feeds in order for them to increase productivity at low costs.
While talking to members of the public and farmers yesterday at Bahati Primary School during an Artificial Insemination education session to local livestock farmers, Bahati sub county Agricultural Commissioner Wycliff Masika said farmers in rural areas can effectively increase their productivity if they embrace homemade feeds.
He observed that Bahati as a rural area had abundant natural and other agriculturally produced plant products that can be used to manufacture nutrient-rich fodder and feeds.
“I advise farmers to seek for information and skills on how to manufacture animal feeds from home. This area is full of plants that can be used to make animal feeds. All you need is knowledge, skills, and little input,” said Masika.
He added that his office was ready to assist local farmers acquire homemade animal feeds skills and encouraged those willing to visit his office for more advice and information.
