A Kenya-based lobby group has petitioned President Uhuru Kenyatta to help dismantle the cartels responsible for illegally manufacturing liquor.Futa Magendo Action Network has already written to the president on the matter, focusing on issues plaguing the liquor industry. On top of their concerns is the mushrooming of alcohol factories in the country operating illegally at the disadvantage of genuine manufacturers who comply with the law.James Maina who is the coordinator of the group, told the media yesterday that ethanol from neighbouring countries was being smuggled into the country, evading taxation. In the letter, the group called for President Uhuru's intervention in the matter.
