A youth lobby group in Nakuru has threatened to name senior and junior officials in the county government colluding with business people to siphon public funds.
Mawanga Youth Agenda (WAY) chairman, Antony Waweru, said they were ready to expose the corrupt people and the scandals they are involved in.
Waweru said that the recent World Bank report which ranked Nakuru County poorly on performance is an indication that there are people in the county squandering public resources.
He added, “We are not afraid to name this people. We are going to name them and the dubious activities they are involved in. They have cost the county millions.”
According to Waweru most county government ministers are colluding with local and international business people to steal public money in dubious tenders, contracts among others.
“The poor state of roads, public health facilities, schools, water supply, insecurity and environmental degradation are indication of poor public services and resource mismanagement in the county,” notes Waweru.
He lamented that local youths and other groups like the disabled and women were languishing in poverty, unemployment and poor health while government officials were busy misusing public resources.
