A youth lobby group in Nakuru will from January next year start holding public forums to debate important public matters affecting the youth and other members of the community.
Speaking to HiviSasa.com at Mawanga business centre Friday morning, the chairman of Mawanga Youth Agenda (MYA) in Nakuru-East Constituency Antony Waweru said the group will organise a series of public forums to be known as “Bunge La Mawanga” that will allow residents and other members of the public to debate and deliberate on issues.
“This forum will enhance awareness and sharing of information by our youth and other members of our community on diverse issues including politics, economy, security and development. It will arouse development and also enhance security among other pressing matters,” said Waweru.
He added that plans were at an advanced stage to acquire a permit from the local security agents and the county government to enable them to carry out the public forum sessions at least two times a week.
According to Waweru many pressing issues in the community have failed to be resolved because locals lack a public forum to deliberate matters affecting them or which can benefit them.
