The Kisumu Inter-parties Forum chairman Joseph Olwero said they are now ready to hand over the signatures to IEBC for action, as they seek the dissolvent of the county assembly.

Olwero said the move is extremely necessary so that the County assembly can be dissolved in order to pave way for fresh elections due to persistent wrangles and ineptitude within the body.

He said the assembly has been rocked by wrangles at the expense of service delivery since its inception.

The chairman said most MCAs are semi-illiterate and do not understand vital aspects such as budget making and committee deliberations.

“The best option is to do away with the assembly so that more credible leaders can be chosen by members of the public,” said Olwero.

He said that they cannot continue sitting back as residents suffer at the hands of wayward MCAs.

Speaking in Kisumu, Olwero said they have already realized over 30,000 signatures, adding that they intend to collect further 40,000 signatures in order to have an overwhelming figure.

The official said more residents from Kisumu County should come up and append their signatures, since it is the only way of injecting sanity within the county.
