A lobby group has called for a probe into the mysterious killing of a 27-year-old man allegedly by administration police officers who raided their home on October 8. Nakuru County human rights director David Kuria wants the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Inspector General of Police to intervene and speed up investigations into the murder. “I urge the family and residents to maintain peace as l call upon the DPP and the IG to investigate the matter to allow justice to prevail,” said Kuria. He condemned the murder, saying it was misuse of firearms and an incident of extra-judicial killing. The lobby group has also written to the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) seeking conclusive investigations of the murder of George Karagu at Kiptangwany location in Gilgil sub-county. The deceased’s family is seeking the intervention of IG David Kimaiyo and DPP Keriako Tobiko to arrest and prosecute the two APs alleged to have shot Karagu on the ill-fated night. Alice Ngure, deceased’s mother, yesterday said her son's killers are walking scot-free even after the first autopsy conducted by an independent pathologist confirmed that he was killed by a police bullet. The two administration policemen attached to Kiptangwany police post are said to have raided the late Karago’s home looking for him over allegations that he had committed a felony before they allegedly shot him on the stomach, killing him instantly. An AP attached to Kiptangwany police post, who sought anonymity as he is not allowed to address the media, revealed that the slain man was wanted by the police over an offence he had committed and had evaded several police dragnets until the night when the officers stormed his house. However, his family and villagers have denied that the deceased was wanted by the police, saying that he was a humble man who has never committed any criminal activity safe to minor pardonable offences.
