Kisii County Governor James Ongwae is a man under siege from a section of Lobby groups who held demonstrations on Monday afternoon wanting him to resign.
They accused Governor Ongwae of misusing Sh 200 million bursary funds meant for needy students.
They accused him of playing with their minda and engaging the public in public relations.
"Under the current leadership a lot of money has been wasted as the Governor remains silent. We now demand that he resigns and leaves office with immediate effect," said Elijah Nyangweso head of Huduma Sasa lobby group.
According to him, most students are yet to recieve money meant for last year's bursary despite being listed as beneficiaries.
"Its either Governor Ongwae accounts for the lost funds or we hold him accountable," he said.
Efforts to reach the County Government for a comment proved futile.
Governor Ongwae for the last two months has come under sharp criticism with residents demanding that he resigns.
