A group of professionals from Kangundo sub-county has launched a movement aimed at mobilizing all education stakeholders in a bid to uplift education standards in the constituency.
The group, calling itself Kangundo Educational Stakeholders Forum, seeks to, among other things pool resources and ideas with a view to motivate the teaching fraternity and learners to improve academic performance.
The group’s convener, Dr Ancent Nzioka said the effort is aimed at ‘taking Kangundo back to its former glory’ in matters academics.
“We want to pool ideas and resources and come up with a structured mechanism that will promote motivation on teachers and learners as well as enhance parents’ involvement in matters of education,” said Dr Nzioka, who is also a lecturer at the Kenyatta University School of Medicine.
Dr Nzioka said the group will work closely with government education officials including area DEO, political leaders, school inspectors as well as TSC officers manning the sub-county.
The initiative comes at a time when Kangundo has been posting dismal examination results in both KCPE and KCSE compared to other sub-counties of Machakos.
