A children's right group has moved to court challenging the shortening of the third term for primary and secondary school learners.

Haki Jamii Rights Centre has said that the application is intended to preserve the dignity and integrity of the students.

The petitioner is also seeking nullification of the ministry of education pronouncement, saying its consequences are prejudicial to national examination candidates.

Prolonged electioneering has interfered with this year's third term calendar.

KCPE and KCSE exams were also pushed to allow for the repeat of presidential polls scheduled for next week Thursday, October 26 following the Supreme court's nullification of the August 8 general election presidential results.
