Council of Professionals of Kenya media briefing[Photo/www.kts.co.ke]The Council of Professionals of Kenya (CPK) has urged Parliament to pass a legislation that will enable the President to form an all-inclusive government.
The lobby led by former Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba, former assistant minister Danson Mungatana and former Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro, said the law would address the current winner-takes-all scenario because it will create inclusivity among all the communities.
“What about enacting the Inclusivity Act as the first order of business upon swearing-in of President Uhuru Kenyatta? The title of the statute will be ‘An Act of Parliament to Create a Feeling of Inclusion among all Kenyan Communities in National and County Affairs,” said Ethuro.
He said there is need to create a special position for whoever emerges runners-up in the presidential race to minimise the fear of the winner taking it all and the loser being left in the political cold. “The runners-up will have a special Opposition position in either the Senate or the National Assembly. This way, we will have both a strong government and a strong Opposition and that’s the true spirit of democracy,” said Mungatana.
They at the same time told off the Opposition over its plans for parallel swearing-in of Raila Odinga as president on November 28. CPK claimed the plot is a clear indication of desperation by the Opposition, which has found it difficult to accept the will of the people.
