The Nakuru Transparency Network (NTN) says the board has shown transparency in employment criteria in the county.

“We want qualified workers to be retained to uplift the service delivery,” said Maina Mungai, the lobby’s CEO.

Addressing members of the public on Tuesday at Kenyatta Avenue, Maina said that service delivery in Nakuru County is poor due to infiltration of unqualified workers.

“It is not amazing to get a standard eight drop-out delivering service in this county. What services can such a fellow deliver?” posed Maina.

Maina said for the county to prosper and compete with other counties, it has to have a strong workforce of qualified workers.

“Qualified workers are the engine of the county. The service board needs to weed out all unqualified workers to enable the county improve the lives of residents through service delivery,” said Maina.

He however urged the board to balance the ratio of all tribes in the cosmopolitan town and urged the board to lay down clear guidelines in the recruitment process.

“We do not want back door recruitments. We want the posts to be advertised and recruitment to be done on merit, not through nepotism or tribalism,” he said.
