Speaking at Nakuru after the case involving Naka primary school where a 10 acre piece of land ended up in the hands of ENSE Company , the agency associate director Houghton Irungu said a total of 29 000 school have been grabbed by companies and private developers.

Out of these, there are 4100 cases pending in different courts across the country.

“Every day we are worried to encounter people grabbing school fields set apart for construction and for play grounds. The big schools are not affected, only the schools of the poor,” Irungu said.

He said they are determined to defend school lands from grabbers.

“All these schools have all the required documents to prove ownership. What we don’t know is how these lands ended into the hands of fraudsters,” Irungu added.
