Intense lobbying for Nyamira county executive posts has reached a climax with church leadership and close allies wading into the murky and politically hot contest for supremacy battle in Governor John Nyagarama’s leadership.

According to Nyamira conference elder Edwin Omboga they want the governor to be guided by merit and not cronyism adding the appointments should be fair and a true reflection of the people’s wishes.

Omboga emphasized that professionalism and not clanism should be the yard stick in picking the county cabinet.

The church elder said according regional balance a priority in appointing the officials may culminate in sourcing people who are incompetent and jeopardize service delivery.

“It is true that there were problems in some dockets headed by cabinet members in Nyagarama’s first term and as church elders we don’t want the situation repeated,” he added

He also differed with political leaders in the county over power sharing pact which was allegedly made ahead of 2013 General election.

“We need people who can deliver services to Nyamira residents as that’s why we have one governor who ha the full authority to choose best leaders to work with” he added.

Already the county government have advertised for the posts and the application is ongoing.
