A 22-year-old model is on a funds drive to enable former female World Boxing Champion, Conjestina Achieng' get medical treatment in India.

Eveleen Mingoye who was crowned Miss Eastlands Nairobi County in 2014, together with K'Ogello Empowerment Group have made another attempt at helping the renowned boxer by marshaling well wishers.

Conje, as she is commonly referred to as, left Nairobi after she was diagnosed with Schizo-affective disorder/paranoid Schizophrenia and was unable to secure funds to continue her medication.

She was admitted at Mathari Hospital in September 8, 2012 after she relapsed in a psychotic episode that left her parents distraught.

"I have already communicated with a doctor in India and we are good to go, but we have to raise funds to accomplish this," said Mingoye.

She said she will be having an M-PESA paybill number ready towards the same initiative to help Achieng', who she refers to as an icon and role model who inspired many people in Eastlands, Nairobi, where she too was staying.

"Kenyans forget so fast. Conje is a hero and needs our help. Let us not love people when they are up there and forget them when they need us most," said Mingoye who came from Nairobi to Yala and was perturbed at the state of the former pugilist.

Her mother, Gertrude Adala is frustrated at the recurrence of the ailment, she has not given up hope and feels that with adequate help, her daughter can get the best medical care and resume boxing again or engage in gainful employment.
