Kabage cited that the county commissioners and the assistant chiefs did not give the initiative the prominence it required.

Speaking at a public ‘baraza’ in Kabazi area, the leader noted that the administration was lazy in its implementation of the exercise creating loopholes for insecurity in the country.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has put so much faith in this initiative. We wonder why the rest of the people in administration are not taking it with the seriousness it deserves,” he added.

Kabage observed that majority of the leaders did not carryout the weekly ‘barazas’ that were required by the administration.

“They are supposed to help inform the residents on the benefits of the ‘Nyumba Kumi Initiative’. However, a spot check indicates that majority of the areas have not benefited from this meetings,” he added.

Kabage insisted that this was the best way to fight the high levels of insecurity in the country, as each person would be their brothers’ keeper.

The leader cited high levels of corruption in the Initiative, claiming that the officers who are in the committees did not meet the required qualifications.
