Kiambu local and county leaders have been asked to intervene and help solve a land tussle in Maimahiu that left three people dead and several injured.
Kiambu local politician Mbiyu Karanja said the land purchase involved a wiling seller willing buyer.
“No one forced another to sell their land and it is not right for the real owners of the land to suffer while they paid through hard work and their sweat for the land,” said Mbiyu.
Mbiyu called on the local elected leaders; Limuru MP John Kiragu, Lari MP Mburu Kahangara and Kiambu County Commissioner Esther Maina to intervene and avoid a case of retaliatory attacks.
Former Limuru Councilor Ndungu wa Njenga said he was angered by the slow response by local leaders against the killing of people over the tussle.
Ndungu said those affected by the killings over land were from Lari, Limuru and Kikuyu, and urged area leaders to ensure there is calm in the area.
Those affected were members of the Utheri wa Lari cooperative that acquired land through legal purchase in Maimahiu many years ago.
