An orphan from Nyakomisaro area in Kisii has received a major boost in her life after a local tycoon offered to take care of her.
Christine Omosa, a class four pupil in Bobaracho, has been under the custody of her aging granny following the death of her parents in a tragic road accident in Oyugis-Kisii road last year.
With no next of kin other than the granny, young Omosa had to endure difficulties with the grandmother and at a point dropped out of school.
But on Tuesday, local businessman Willis Onyoni, who runs various real estate businesses across the country, offered to support the young girl.
“I learnt about this child from a close friend of mine who hails from this village. It was an appalling situation and I had to chip in as a Samaritan so that she achieves her dreams to help someone else in future,” he said.
“She will go to my home and school with my children. This is our obligation in the society and I have to do it. I will employ someone to take care of the granny,” he added.
Onyoni asked the local community to report such cases so that they can receive attention from well-wishers before the situation gets worse.
“As a community, we have not done well when it comes to assisting one another. We should report such cases to relevant authorities,” Onyoni said.
