KCB Foundation through its “Formalizing the Informal Sector –skilling for self-employment” initiative and EAPCC have agreed to pool resources, skills and experiences of both organizations in order to enable youth and entrepreneurs in small informal businesses in poor urban and rural communities to start and grow their business.

Speaking during the partnership signing agreement event, Jane Mwangi, KCB Foundation Director said, “We at KCB Foundation are working to get more partners into the 2jiajiri programme which will help in the funding of more people to training schools across the country. This will especially help in a great deal especially in the incubation period which will help the beneficiaries realize their business potentials.”

The 2jiajiri program seeks to help local youth to materialize their micro-entrepreneurship projects and transform them into small and medium scale employers in their own right.

She noted that KCB Foundation is a strategic and reliable partner in pushing forward the country’s developmental agenda. There exists a large appetite among the youth for accessing the foundation of technical skills and financial resources that is needed to sustain a viable enterprise or function effectively in the labour market.

Mr Kephar Tande, Managing Director, East Africa Portland Cement Ltd said, “As a company we are committed to pushing forward the country’s developmental agenda by empowering the youth and facilitating avenues where they get equipped to become self-reliant.

He added that EAPCC will provide internships opportunities as well as encompassing the beneficiaries of 2jiajiri programs within Masonry, Building Electricals and Plumbing in their distributorship network.
