Mandera locals have called upon the county government to issue them with boats to maneuver around.
The furious residents say they can’t move about since everything is submerged in water and everywhere you go is filled with water.
The locals that since the national and county government have failed to come to their rescue they should at least give them boats to manoeuvre on their own and they won't need their help anymore.
They noted that nowhere in the town is passable and the only means of movement would be boats.
“We have realized nothing good comes from the national government and county government. They should give us boats so that we can move around and conduct our daily activities noted,” Ramadhan Ali.
They noted that most of their belongings have been submerged in water.
“The national government has abandoned us. I was discussing with my friend Patrick and we saw it was better if we were given boats so that even if they abandon us we can still be okay for we don’t know what may happen as the rains continue,” stated Salim Moha.
The locals have now resolved to use boats to cross rivers that have busted its banks soaking most parts of the region.
“The means of crossing some of the rivers in the area have moved from land to water transport. A looming business opportunity is owning a boat to cross people over to another part of the land. We should be added more boats,” stated Rogo Hassan.
The locals want the national government to address the situation in the region before much damage is done by the floods.
“We have already lost one person due to the floods. It is time the government acts before we lose an all village noted,” Rashid Abdul.
