Limuru’s Ngarariga residents have appealed for deployment of police in the area to curb crime.
The residents allege that cases of crime has escalated and that the governemnt must deploy moire police officers.
Joshua Kamau, a resident told this writer that cases of people being mugged, robbed and allegedly shot dead by criminals have gone up.
“We want the governemnt to deploy more police officers to help address crime,” he said, adding that the number of police currently has been overpowered by criminals.
Mercy Wanjiru, a vegetable vendor said that they are being forced to close business early for fear of attacks.
She said that the sub county administration must do something to restore calm in the area that has been allegedly been invaded by criminals.
On Friday, the residents say that a taxi and a boda boda operator were hijacked and killed by armed gunmen.
They claim that the criminals are moving freely a move that has caused more fear among the people.
Speaking at his office on Friday, sub county commissioner Alfred Makoma said police are committed to address crime.
He asked residents to support law enforcers so that they can weed out criminal elements. “The police are working around the clock to fight criminals, residents must howver support them,” said Makoma.
The commissioner assured residents of their safety during and after the holiday season.
