At least 1000 people received free medical check-up organized by various medical organizations.
The exercise that took place at Kamuthganga primary school in Machakos town constituency attracted a medical team from Rotary club of Lang'ata led by its President Ashley Myess. He was accompanied by the leader of the entire team Jimmy Labi.
Speaking during the event, Myess said that it was important for people to frequent medical facilities to learn about their medical status in order to avert preventable diseases.
"Many people suffer from cancer at terminal stages maybe because of negligence or ignorance. If you get an early screening, it is possible to ward off a host of diseases and also treat immature ones," said Mr. Myess.
Other organizations who participated in the medical exercise also included the Texas cancer center, AAR, Syokimau Rotary club and Agakhan University Hospital among others.
Diseases screened included, Eye clinic, Cancer, Diabetes, Child deworming, family planning among others.
Those positively diagnosed were treated and those with complicated cases referred to high-level hospitals.
The event's team leader Jimmy Labi praised local administration for providing security and order in the whole exercise.
