The county government of Uasin Gishu has assured traders living around the newly build Kimumu market in the outskirts of Eldoret town that there will be a fair distribution of stalls.

Speaking during a public participation with regard to the stalls allocation at the market on Monday, County director of Licensing and Compliance Silas Leting said the project was initiated with an aim of benefiting locals.

He further asked traders who will use the market to fully comply county laws and regulations to avoid harassments from enforcement officers.

"We believe this market will benefit many traders and all we ask is that as much as we assure of fair distribution of stalls we also want to ask traders who will use this facility to comply with all laws including payment of all business fees and charges," Kering said.

During the meeting, locals proposed that they are allocated half of the stalls at the market with the other half be allocated to other interested traders from outside the ward.It was also agreed that the market will exclusively be for the sell of cereals, fresh produce and second-hand clothes.

Traders operating along verandas of Marura, Ainabtich and Junction Estates have already expressed interest in moving into t market that is estimated to also create over 500 opportunities in agribusiness.
