Garissa county commissioner James Kianda has asked residents to adhere to the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on the county by the national government two weeks ago.

Kianda says that some locals are not observing the curfew and risk being arrested and arraigned to court.

He said that the curfew was imposed for security reasons and locals have to strictly adhere to it.

“I want to remind citizens to make sure they observe the curfew to avoid problems with security agencies,” he said as quoted by the Standard.

Kianda said that security operation to flush put terrorists and their sympathizers is on top gear.

The county commissioner also warned politicians against politicizing security mechanisms being enforced by the government.

“Politicians should keep to their lane and allow security agencies to do their work,” he said. He assured residents of their security before, during and after the August 8 polls.

A dusk to dawn curfew was imposed on the county by acting Interior CS Fred Matiang’i two weeks ago.

A section of leaders have however faulted the curfew claiming it was not necessary.

Garissa is among counties that have experienced terror related attacks in the recent months.
