The operation led by the area chief led to the arrest of 5 brewers.

According to the residents the illegal brew menace has ‘consumed’ almost all the youth in the area.

“I want to congratulate our area chief for the raid that led to the arrest of the 5 popular brewers in the area," said Teresia Mong'are.

"They always believe that they are immune to the legal system. I personally cautioned them but they couldn’t listen,” she added.

“This is the kind of spirit we want from our leaders not blackmails to gain political mileage,” said Thomas Makori.

“We have lost very productive youth in this area who would have been instrumental in nation building," said Rev George Owiti.

"The move by the area chief is key in the fight against illegal brewing. I call upon him to continue with the same spirit until no more brews exist in this area,” he added.
