Garissa residents have sounded a distress call for what they say is poor service delivery and laxity by hospital staff when handling patients.
Patients who had flocked the facility on Monday to seek treatment faulted the facility administrators, alleging that there were only one doctor and one nurse to attend to the ailing locals in the early morning hours.
One of the patients who sought anonymity said the only clinical officer and the nurse were both stationed at the emergency room to attend to critical patients.
"I arrived at the facility very early with my sick daughter. I was there by 8 AM and we did not receive any assistance. There was only one doctor at the emergency room," said parent who had brought his sick child for medication.
However, efforts to seek clarification from the hospital management proved futile as there were no senior officers to respond to queries.
The Monday scenario now paints a bad image to the facility that had recently recorded milestones in health care service provision after conducting series of successful Ceaserian section deliveries.
Modogashe sub-county hosp[ital is one the health facilities in Garissa county that receives many patients, most of who come from Shanta Abak and Benane areas.
