City manager Doris Ombara said the current attitude where residents are ever rejecting views is detrimental for the development of the city.

Ombara said the residents must be accommodative of views, and be able to siege opinions instead of rebelling with every statement.

‘It is high time our people learn to be accommodative and stop this issue of heckling leaders and throwing stones,” she said.

She noted that Kisumu City will continue lagging behind other cities in the country, if the local residents fail to change their attitude.

She appealed to the youth to be on the forefront to welcome ideas from different leaders that can be used to develop the city instead of engaging in disrupting meetings.

Speaking in Kisumu, Ombara said the image of Kisumu city is wanting, and there is an urgent need to redefine the lakeside city’s image.

“Our image out there is demeaning and something must be done urgently to rectify our image,” she said.

She said such image has cost the city a number of investors who would like to set base in Kisumu but fear violence and bad politics.

Ombara said Kisumu city has the potential for investors owing to its strategic location but the attitude of the locals is worrying and scaring away investors.
