The residents of Mwembe estate in the outskirts of Kisii town has called upon the county government to urgently close down or control the high number of clubs and bars that are growing so fast in the area.
Led by their Nyumba Kumi chairperson Begi Mokaya on Tuesday morning in an urgent Baraza at his residence the residents said that the dens have to be done away with as they are currently being used for harboring criminals.
“We want the county government to ensure that they regulate the number of bars, clubs and above all gambling dens which have become a security threat to the local residents,” he added.
The chairperson added that in the just concluded holidays they have witnessed a lot of petty crimes and no one has been arrested over the same and both incidents are associated to the drinking dens.
The angry residents added that they will take the law into their hands if they don’t see any action within a months’ time.
