This was said on Thursday by Njoro Ward Member of the County Assembly Ezekiel Kungu when he addressed mourners during a funeral service at St.Lwanga Catholic Church for a local secondary School teacher who committed suicide at a lodging room, after suspected sex workers robbed him of Sh80,000 and a mobile phone worth Sh20,000 during a drinking spree.

The MCA noted that most local lodging centres were not providing enough security to their clients and also their businesses and society at large, and urged them to improve.

“It is common for most local guest house operators to let strangers stay in the rooms without bothering to establish their identities. They also fail to monitor their activities during the stay,” said Kungu.

“This is a very serious security lapse practice and must stop especially in this era of increased terrorism and robbery incidences in our country” he further observed.

“You must demand proper identification from all your clients and also monitor their activities. Such a case could have been avoided if the lodge workers stopped the robbers from stealing Mwalimu’s money. Now we cannot track them because there are no records of them. Let this be a big lesson to all of us,” he noted.
