Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru has been invited to give a public lecture on accountable governance in Royal Institute of International Affairs in Chatham House, London.
She has found herself on the receiving end after Kenyans on Twitter learnt of the invitation.
The event which is slated for July 4, will see the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary discuss the successes and challenges of implementing devolution.
She will be the third Kenyan leader to address people at Chatham after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Kenyans however took to social media to express their views concerning Waiguru’s invitation using #SomeoneTellChathamHouse hashtag on Twitter.
A section of Kenyans argued that the former Devolution Cs was not fit to speak on accountability after she was implicated in graft following the loss of 791 million at NYS which fell under her Ministry.
She was later cleared by Anti-graft agency.
Here are Kenyans thoughts on social media;
@254 Resist We can't keep encouraging African leaders who squander public funds by giving them global platforms to piss on us. A place like @ChathamHouse deserves respect.
@muciruWacaro What message does it send to the young people that are aspiring to be future leaders? That the end justifies the means?
@Jupiterising #SomeonetellChathamHouse that they are free to send out tone-deaf invites. They're also at liberty to be willfully ignorant of the scandal-ridden tenures some of their invitees have had in public office.
@RBryan @ChathamHouse has become the latest character cleansing expert for the Kenyan kleptocracy. Shame on them
@DavidLugodoli Sanitizing people...This thing is well done behind the scenes no mistakes..
