The Monday report said that Matt Campbell died after he received medical attention on the track then rushed to the hospital.

Campbell also participated in the Manchester Marathon this month, where he managed to finish under three hours.

He participated in the London Marathon to honor his late father who departed two years ago as well as raise money for The Brathay Trust, that inspires personal positive changes in vulnerable children.

“Everyone involved in the organization of the London Marathon would like to express our sincere condolences to Matt’s family and friends. The exact cause of death will be established by later medical examination,” organizers said in a statement.

Last year, Campbell was a semi-finalist in the BBC television show ‘Masterchef: The Professionals’.

Meanwhile, Kenyans dominated the race, with Eliud Kipchoge winning the race and almost smashed the world record, clocking 2:04:17 and missing the record by 80 seconds.

His female compatriot, Vivian Cheruiyot put in a personal best time of 2:18:31 to win the female category.
