Residents of London in Nakuru have raised concern over the increased cases of insecurity in the area

The residents claim that there incidences of break-ins and mugging have been on the rise in the last few weeks saying that robbers hide at the Gioto dumpsite masquerading as street kids

“There are increased cases of people being killed or mugged in broad daylight and yet nothing is being done to improve the security of the area,” said Pauline Omondi

She said women were the most vulnerable and have been specifically targeted by the robbers.

Janet Ngina says break-ins have been frequent especially at the Industrial area.

“It has become common for residents to come home to an empty house. Break-ins have become very regular. We suspect that the robbers use a chemical to melt the locks,” she claims.

Peter Mungai, a youth leader in the area, appealed for more frequent patrols due to the vastness of the area.

“The area needs about 20 police officers but unfortunately only about four patrol it every night,” he added.

They were speaking to this writer on Thursday.
