For now, more than 20 aspirants have shown interest in the seat among them: Lewis Nguyai, James Wanjohi, Charles Chege, John Wamagata and Ferdinand Waititu.

“I am the only woman in this group and I do not fear the gender difference. I will go out to campaign and I am sure I will win the hearts of the Kabete people,” said Wanjiku.

She said the untimely death of George Muchai, the former MP, has left a huge leadership gap that needed to be filled by an able person, and she was that candidate.

“I will inject the management skills of a woman and ensure Kabete projects are from corruption and that they get completed on time,” said Wanjiku.

She also assured the staff employed by Muchai in different offices, which include the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), security of their jobs.

“I will work with those who were working with Muchai and they should not fear that I am coming into office they will lose their jobs,” said Wanjiku.

The biggest challenge for Wanjiku is that she is not known much to the residents of Kabete and is being labelled a newcomer.
