Hundreds of mourners on Saturday turned up for the burial of North West Kisumu Senior Chief Samson Omondi Owino.
The late Mr Omondi was buried in remorseful burial ceremony his home in Nyawita village near Maseno University.
Mr.Omondi passed on on March 27 at Port Florence Hospital where he had been admitted after being diagnosed with pneumonia and a hypertrophied heart.
The father of nine was married to three wives, Alice, Mary and Joyce who said that the demise of Mr Omindo was a blow to the family.
The late Omondi was known for his exemplary leadership skills that were praised by everyone who had a chance to speak during the burial ceremony.
Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch said every leader should work towards learning, emulating and embracing the same leadership qualities portrayed by Omondi.
“For our society to develop faster, more leaders of Omondi’s caliber must be nurtured,” said the MP.
The late senior chief served in the Kenya Army between 1981 and 1993 before being moved to Maseno East Karateng’ sub-location where he served as Assistant Chief.
He was promoted to senior Chief after portraying exemplary leadership skills.
