Areas of Mutirithia, Kapsita and Moto are the worst hit by the shortage. the area residents are now saying that a 20 litre container of water is currently going at Sh45, a price the say is very high and not sustainable to many of them. The remaining oasis of hope for the residents to quench their thirst is a spring by the name Munju.

“The only source of water we have right now is Munju spring, but a challenge with it right now is the long wait people have to persevere due to big number of people in need of that same commodity. This is a beehive of activity. When you come here you have to wait for three to four hours to get water as lines are long,” said John Maina area resident.

Some say they are forced to wake up as early as 3am when people are not many because after 5am, the place is flocked by thirsty residents.

"I have travelled for more than 3km to be here and with the look of things, I could be here for the next four hours,” said Maureen Rop  on Tuesday at the spring.

Residents are now blaming the county government and the water company NARUWASCO for not being able to supply them with enough water, despot them paying taxes adding that politician who could help save them from the menace only go to them during campaign times.
