West Pokot Senator John Lonyanyapuo on Wednesday accused Jubilee administration of getting priorities ‘wrong’ during the special Senate sitting.
The government had deployed police along parliament road, with some Senators complaining of allegedly being harassed at the gate.
The heavy presence of the police did not however go down well with Longanyapuo, who demanded that the police are deployed to his home turf to counter cattle rustling.
“It is sad that the government can deploy police to guard and harass distinguished members of this house. This is a peaceful house that should be respected,” he said.
“Not even Daniel Moi or Mwai Kibaki who ever deployed police in parliament. I wonder who is this thing that can dare do that. Police should be deployed to areas such as Keiyo Valley where we have persistent cattle rustling,” he added.
Senate avoided taking a vote on the contagious election laws and directed the matter to the Legal committee for further deliberations before it is resubmitted to the house for debate.
