Uhuru while in his tour in Kisii County, accused the former prime minister of igniting the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

In a statement, Raila downplayed the accusations saying Uhuru was desperate on how the Gusii people were going to vote in the August 8 polls, and therefore looked on something to hang on in order to revive his miserable 2013 voting bloc.

“I have learnt of claims by President Uhuru Kenyatta while visiting Kisii earlier today that I played a central role in the 2007/2008 post-election violence and that he is responsible for Kenya’s stagnation,” read part of Raila’s statement.

“We understand the desperation of the President for something to hang on to and reenergise his depressed 2013 voting bloc. We however advise the President to look around his entourage as he visits Kisii and also look into the mirror if he is interested in the truth on the 2007/2008 violence,” he added.

The post-election chaos which emerged after disputed poll results saw at least over 1,000 people dead and over 600,000 others displaced.
