Limuru is a town in Central Kenya, Kiambu County.

It is located just a few kilometres from the capital, Nairobi.

When most people hear of Limuru, they immediately think of the cold weather but it is interesting to note that there is more to Limuru than just the chilly weather, as I came to find out.

I personally never thought I would live in Limuru, till I joined Limuru Girls School in 2012.

The part about chilly weather is true, especially in the months of July and towards the end of the year. So don’t be fooled to think you can dress to shine. You’ll freeze!

Fog and mist are no fairy tale in Limuru.

A day and another can pass without a streak of sunlight penetrating through the town. A major challenge of this weather is that your clothes may take up to a week on the lines without drying. This is a major challenge I experienced as a student since the pairs of uniform were limited!

Sometimes we were forced to dry our shirts by squeezing with the towels! But I think this cool kind of weather is awesome compared to being scorched by the sun throughout the day.

Limuru is serene.

If you dream of staying in a place where the grass is (always) green, plenty of trees swaying to the rhythm of the wind, birds are beautifully chirping, then Limuru is the place for you.

You experience the fullness of nature.

This is made even more breath-taking by the stretches of green tea leaves beautifully planted. Taking a walk in these plantations especially at sunset gives you a feeling of being on the ideal planet!

Outskirts of Limuru town tend to be very quiet. For someone who wants to so badly escape from noisy cities, you can drive to Limuru and find yourself a place. No traffic jams, no industry smoke, no unnecessary car hooting; it is just so cool. Want to take a vacation? Why not consider going to Brackenhurst in Limuru!

It is a beautiful experience to live in this small paradise farm town. And what’s more, the people of Limuru are very welcoming and hospitable!

Why don’t you take a drive there and experience it for yourself!
