The county is accused of failing to pay the 32 doctors in various cadres including dentists, medical officers and pharmacists since they were absorbed in April this year.

The intergovernmental committee had posted the doctors, who had completed their mandatory internship.

According to Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) South Rift Secretary General Davji Atellah, the county has been promising to pay the employees, a promise not forthcoming.

“The Union has tried to engage Health Executive and county Health committees but no solution has been sort” said Dr. Atellah

Dr. Atellah said lack of budgetary allocations to pay the doctors could affect smooth operation in public hospitals.

“If this matter is not solved then am seeing a crisis in the health sector in Nakuru since we have shortage of doctors in our public health facilities” said Atellah.
