Machakos town residents were on Monday night shocked after a lorry which was carrying dead bodies from Machakos Level 5 Hospital dropped them accidentally along the Machakos-Wote road.
The lorry was transporting the bodies to bury them in Yimitheu land which is owned by the government.
Machakos police officers closed the road for sometime looking on how the bodies could be collected from the road.
The incident raised eyebrows among leaders in the county where Machakos central MCA Cornelius Kitheka condemned it asking the Machakos county government to explain it to the residents.
“I am asking the Machakos county government if it is possible to stop doing things like this, because this is demoralising,” Kitheka said.
Kitheka asked the county government to prove whether there was a court order to dispose the bodies and if there was none, stern action should be taken to those who did it.
This comes a time when the Machakos county government is cleaning the Level 5 Hospital ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to the hospital.
President Uhuru will be visiting the hospital on the May 28 to check on its upgrading progress.
The national government in conjunction with the Machakos county government is upgrading the hospital to an ultra-modern referral facility.
